Annetta Catherine “Katie” Scott passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sweet Springs with Fr. Francis Doyle and Fr. Kevin Gormley co-celebrating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Thursday with visitation following until 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs.  The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Sweet Springs FFA-Wilbur and Katie Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, or The Living Center. Katie was born on July 21, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., and was the youngest of five children born to Emmett S. Cutler and Genevieve Manning Cutler. She lived in Pilot Grove until the family moved to a farm just outside of Marshall Junction. Katie attended seventh and eighth grade at Mercy Academy in Marshall (now St. Peter Catholic School), and then graduated from Sweet Springs R-7 High School where she worked as school secretary until 1955.

On Sept. 18, 1947, she married the love of her life, Wilbur Thompson Scott Jr., and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2006. Katie and Wilbur opened Scott Implement Company Inc. on Feb. 3, 1964. She worked there as secretary/treasurer until its closing in November 2005. Katie was very active in her community and church, Holy Family Catholic Church. She prayed the Holy Rosary daily.

Katie is survived by her son, Russell Scott (Janet); granddaughter, Kimberly; grandson, Russ II (Angel); and her precious great-grandson, Emerson; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, E.J. Cutler and Vince Cutler; and two sisters, Thelma Kempf and Marie Cutler.
