Ailene M. Blumhorst, 86, of rural Arrow Rock, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 10, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Church at Saline City, with Tom Blumhorst officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Dillon Zdybel, Max Zdybel, Cole Desmond, Kameron Desmond, Skyler Blumhorst and Seth Blumhorst serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday from noon until the time of services at the church. Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat or Salem Evangelical Church Cemetery in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born May 6, 1936, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Louis H. and Onita Rehmsmeyer Pinkepank. On July 3, 1955, she married Kenneth Blumhorst, and he preceded her in death May 24, 2013.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Blumhorst of Marshall, Debbie Weber of Villa Grove, Ill., and Diana Reed and her husband, Mike, of St. Peter, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Butch Blumhorst and his wife, Melanie, Mike Blumhorst, Shelly Stephens and her husband, Eugene, Wendy Blumhorst, Terri Haunhorst and her husband, Aaron, Sheila Johnson and her husband, Derek, Lisa Farnham and her husband, Aaron, Jeremiah Eidson and his wife, Allison, Stephanie Johnson and her husband, James, and Joshua Eidson and his wife, Caitlin; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and two sisters, Gloria Schroeder of Merced, Calif., and Norma Jean Humphreys of Marshall.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Blumhorst; and two brothers, Raymond Pinkepank and Wilbert Pinkepank.
Mrs. Blumhorst was a member of the Salem Evangelical Church. She had worked as an Aide and Activity Director at Big Bend Retreat in Slater for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning, and being with her family.
