Barbara Usnick, 92, of Marshall, formerly of Slater, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Slater United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery, with Colin Vaillancourt, Keith Bishop, Thomas Usnick, Cody Burson, Casey Usnick and Aaron Kleinschmidt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Usnick and Jeffrey Usnick. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Slater United Methodist Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born April 26, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Corine Murray Olson. On July 3, 1948, in Kansas City, she married Thomas E. “Tom” Usnick, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2010.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Usnick Jr. of Mexico, Steven C. Usnick of Raytown, and Jeffrey R. Usnick of Sedalia; a daughter, Susan C. Bishop of Marshall; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a brother, Clarence A. “Bud” Olson Jr. of The Villages, Fla.
Mrs. Usnick was a longtime active member of the Slater United Methodist Church. She was a 1948 graduate of Wyandotte High School. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Slater Library Board. She and her husband were longtime members of the Boots & Slippers Square Dance Club, and she worked for several years as a librarian at the Slater Library. She and her husband moved to Slater in 1978 from Mexico, Mo.
