On Friday, Sept. 12, dozens of Fitzgibbon Hospital staff members and emergency personnel from the community came together for an emergency preparedness drill.
According to Fitzgibbon Hospital Chief Information Technology Officer Tom Jones, should an emergency evacuation be necessary, they would have already contacted state officials, and a “hospital” could be sent to Marshall within 72 hours – one large enough to fill the Fitzgibbon parking lot with equipment to conduct multiple procedures. In the meantime, staff would be searching for other hospitals patients could be sent to and working cooperatively with all departments to physically move patients to an alternate site.
