Michelle Lin and Brianna Carrillo, with the Marshall High School Speech and Debate Squad, competed last week in the 100th national tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. The tournament included 7,000 students in 13 events over a five-day period.While neither Lin nor Carrillo advanced to the top 60, they both placed in the top 100. Lin had a record of five wins and seven losses. According to MHS Debate Coach Paul Gieringer, there were 275 entries in Program of Oral Interpretation and 300 entries in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.Contributed image
