Kiwanis dedicate trees during annual cookout

Members of the Kiwanis Club gathered at Indian Foothills Park for their annual fish fry on Tuesday, June 3. They enjoyed an afternoon cooking out, and the group also dedicated four trees planted in memory of former Kiwanis members who have passed away: Norvelle “Brownie” Brown, Roy Hinton, Charles Ferguson, and Wayne Rucker. The trees are planted near the North Point Shelter House.

Unfounded rumors circulating about New World Screwworm in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY – Unfounded rumors are circulating regarding New World Screwworm in Missouri. To date, the Missouri Department of Agriculture and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has received no notification of New World Screwworm detection in Missouri. Missouri Department of Agriculture works closely with USDA on animal health issues.

Governor Kehoe and DESE kick off the Missouri School Funding Modernization Task Force

Governor Mike Kehoe and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) kicked off the Missouri School Funding Modernization Task Force this afternoon in Jefferson City. Per Governor Kehoe’s Executive Order 25-14, the Task Force is charged with reviewing and recommending changes to Missouri’s K-12 school funding model and providing a final report to the Governor by December 1, 2026. The report will include up to three alternative recommendations or components of the recommended model, as well as a summary of stakeholder feedback garnered through the Task Force’s work.

Free meals are being served to children at several locations in Marshall

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Summer Food Service Program is designed to provide breakfast, lunch, suppers and/or snacks to children living in eligible areas during the summer months and during times of public emergencies, when children do not have access to free or reduced-price meals at school.
