MMU earns Certificate of Excellence in Reliability
MARSHALL - Marshall Municipal Utilities has received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2024. The recognition comes from the American Public Power Association (APPA), a trade group that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.
Hoyes named to 2025 Who’s Who at UCM
The University of Central Missouri recently presented the 2025 Who’s Who at UCM and Charno Awards to outstanding members of the senior class. Of the roughly 1,300 undergraduate students graduating in 2024-25, only 14 were selected for Who’s Who.
Closure scheduled on Route Y over I-70 near Emma for bridge replacement
LAFAYETTE & SALINE COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing Route Y over Interstate 70 near Emma beginning Mon., April 21 for a bridge replacement. The project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 1, 2025. All work is weather permitting.
Wildcats win third straight
Scoring in the first, third and fifth frames, the Slater Wildcats came away with a 6-4 victory at home over the Fayette Falcons April 16.

The Marshall Writers’ Guild monthly meeting was held March 20 in the Marshall Public Library Community Room. The meeting was called to order by President Sharon Dyer.

The Marshall Kiwanis Club held its regular meeting at noon Tuesday, April 15, at Montague’s.
Community Chorus and noted composer join forces
The Marshall Community Chorus will draw its 36th concert season to a close with a stellar concert featuring the music of noted choral composer Mark Hayes on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church of Marshall.
