A Marshall man was scheduled for court Wednesday, Feb. 5, after charges were filed against him for domestic assault.
In an incident on Saturday, Feb. 1, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office responded to an anonymous tip regarding a man with two active felony arrest warrants. Authorities located the suspect at a residence on east Mitchell Street, where he was staying with his girlfriend, 22-year-old Karizma Norman.
In matchups of the seventh- and eighth-seeded teams in each bracket, the No. 7-seeded Sweet Springs Lady Greyhounds and eight-seeded Santa Fe Chiefs emerged victorious in the seventh-place games at the 44th annual Slater Wildcat Classic last weekend.

The Marshall Writers’ Guild met Jan. 16 at the Marshall Public Library community room for the beginning of the guild’s 13th year. Present were President Sharon Dyer, Vice President Sean Rea, Secretary Mary Williams, Treasurer Carole Schaefer, Ed Richards, Mike Thomas, Lee Jasper, Carol Raynor. Guests were Tom Marshall (a relative of our deceased Tom Marshall), Shannon Williams, Mary Gilpin. Gilpin, representing the Mid-Day Optimist Club, came to solicit judges for the club’s essay contest. Three members volunteered to do the judging.
