Sedalia Area Farmers’ Market vendor interest and safety meeting scheduled

SEDALIA – Current and prospective vendors are invited to the Sedalia Area Farmers’ Market vendor interest and food safety training meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20. The interactive training will be presented at State Fair Community College and will include opportunities to ask questions. All vendors must attend the current training prior to selling at the market, which is in its 17th season.

Missouri Corn Scholarship deadline approaching

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)--The deadline is quickly approaching for Missouri agriculture students interested in applying for a 2025 Missouri Corn Scholarship. High school and college students pursuing a career in an agriculture-related field must submit the necessary forms no later than Feb. 14 to be eligible for one of seven $1,000 scholarships awarded by the Missouri Corn Growers Association, the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, and the Missouri Corn Foundation.

Cash rent surveys are headed to your mailbox

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the annual survey of cash rents and leases began. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has sent more than 241,000 surveys to farmers across the United States. Cash rents for irrigated and non-irrigated cropland and permanent pasture will be collected in the survey and will be used to find estimates of the current year’s rental rates.
