New grant brings conservation program to Missouri corn growers

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)-- Precision Conservation Management (PCM), in collaboration with the Illinois Corn Growers Association (IL Corn), Kentucky Corn Growers Association, and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC), has received new grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to bolster regenerative agriculture practices. This grant is part of the $14.7 million NFWF awarded nationwide to advance soil health and improve water quality on working lands. It provides the first opportunity for Missouri farmers to participate in PCM.

MDC reports final deer harvest for season at 276,262

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri’s 2024-2025 deer-hunting season ended Jan. 15 with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reporting a preliminary total deer harvest for the season of 276,262. Of the deer harvested, 129,252 were antlered bucks, 23,842 were button bucks, and 123,168 were does. Top harvest counties for the overall deer season were Franklin with 6,208, Jefferson with 4,900, and Macon with 4,495.

AAA: State Gas Price Average Up Six Cents, Crude Oil on the Rise

(Jan. 16, 2025) -- The statewide gas price average in Missouri is $2.79 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Missouri Weekend Gas Watch. That price is six cents more compared to this day last week and 15 cents more per gallon compared to this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Missouri, drivers in Columbia are paying the most on average at $2.91 while drivers in Joplin are paying the least at $2.68 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.10, which is three cents more compared to this day last week and three cents more compared to the price per gallon at this same time last year, according to AAA Gas Prices.
