Owls hammer Tolton 7-1 on pitch

Marshall’s soccer boys made two trips to Columbia last week and came away with a split.Three nights after suffering a 5-0 loss at Class 4 Rock Bridge, the Owls rebounded to throttle Father Tolton Catholic 7-1 Thursday.Junior Nicholas Tsurkan led the offensive charge by netting hat trick.Four other Owls — sophomore Josiah Garcia-Ramos, junior Brandon Gutierrez, junior Santiago Rodriguez and senior Jonathan Quintana — netted one goal each.The only blemish on the scoresheet was an own goal that kept sophomore netminder Christian Moreno from recording his 12th shutout of the season.The Owls jumped to a 3-0 lead by halftime.Tsurkan’s scored unassisted in the second minute.Garcia-Ramos made it 2-0 in the 15th minute off a feed from junior Ivan Argueta.Just a minute later, Tsurkan scored his second unassisted goal.The own goal made it 3-1 in the fourth minute of the second half, but Gutierrez scored off an assist from junior Danis Alvarez just three minutes later.Tsurkan completed his hat trick with a successful penalty kick in the 23rd minute.Rodriguez and Quintana netted unassisted goals in the 34th and 40th minutes.The Owls improved to 17-5.The Owls closed out the regular season with an NCMC game at Kirksville Monday.

Lady Vikings selected third in preseason poll
