Wildcats fall at Northwest

The Slater Wildcats led the game on more than one occasion, but the host Northwest (Hughesville) Mustangs scored 12 of the game’s final 14 points to win the Central River League South Division game 42-32 last Friday night.The ‘Cats trailed 8-0 after the first quarter and 16-0 early in the second.

Chiefs drop home game to Wellington

On a night when the Santa Fe R-X School District celebrated the life and very successful coaching career of the late Bill Fox, the Wellington Tigers proved to be too much.The Tigers capitalized on several Santa Fe turnovers and rolled to a 65-22 Central River League I-70 Division victory.Despite the loss, Santa Fe head coach Chad Meyer was pleased with the turnout to honor a Santa Fe icon.“I am so glad that so many former students/players made it back for the game and helped celebrate Coach Fox and all he gave to our community,” Meyer noted.Fox ran the table — 14-0 — and won a state title with the Chiefs in 2000.
