Leavitt second in two events at Pirate Invite

Marshall junior Jacob Leavitt turned in two second-place finishes in individual events, including a state consideration time in one of the events at the Pirate Invitational at Belton last Friday and Saturday.Leavitt was runner up in the 50-yard freestyle in a state consideration time of 23.80 seconds — just four-tenths of a second off the winning pace.Leavitt also was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.02 seconds.Freshman Hudson Green finished ninth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 27.14 seconds and garnered some team points.

Sweet Springs Aldermen approve bid for walk-behind saw

During their regular monthly meeting, the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen ratified a regulation that modifies the guidelines for employees who operate city-owned vehicles.According to meeting minutes, after some deliberation, the council approved Section 5 of the employee handbook, which stipulates that all vehicles owned by the City of Sweet Springs should not leave city limits unless for official duty.Next on the agenda was updating Ordinance 240 concerning licensing and controlling animals.
