Owls blank Kirksville to go to 2-0 in NCMC

Senior Jonathan Quintana scored two goals to lead the home-standing Marshall Owls soccer team to a 3-0 North Central Missouri Conference victory over visiting Kirksville at the MHS Sports Complex last Saturday.Quintana says the Owls have been working hard during practice.“We’ve been trying with the whole team, working and trying to take this the farthest to get our conference (title) and take it home,” Quintana said.

Wildcats use big plays to beat Sweet Springs

Senior quarterback Chase Hemeyer passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two more, leading the Slater Wildcats to a 56-14 victory at Sweet Springs last Friday night.The was the first time the two teams had met since 2019 when the Greyhounds won a 44-32 decision in the Class 1, District 5 semifinal round in 11-man action.Now, of course, the two Saline County schools play 8-man football.All of the scoring plays involving Hemeyer were from at lest 20 yards out.Joining in on the long scoring plays was senior Brandon Terrill with an electrifying 63-yard punt return.The ‘Cats led 12-8 after the first quarter and 36-14 at the half.
