Missouri is home to approximately 6,400 caves, according to Missouri State Parks, and is often known as the “Cave State.” The park system showcases four of them for public tours, including Onondaga Cave and Cathedral Cave, Fisher Cave, and Ozark Caverns.

This past spring, the Slater Board of Education approved the hiring of Mitchell Jenkins as the head coach of the Wildcats’ football program.The Wildcats were under the direction of three tri-coaches in 2023, which also was their first-ever as an 8-man program.The trio of Aric Falls, Cedric Davis and Eric Brayman coached the ‘Cats to a 1-9 season, one in which they were members of the Central River League’s North Division, where they wound up 1-5.Knowing the ‘Cats suffered some growing pains in the 8-man game last year, Jenkins hit the ground running.Not long after he took over the position, he held a spring camp.
In Ian Verts’ second season as head coach, the Marshall Owls won a district game for the first time in more than a decade.As the 2024 season approaches, Verts is hopeful the Owls can be even better and reach more milestones.However, the Owls lost a talented senior class that included all-North Central Missouri Conference wide receiver and defensive back Stephen Caviness, kicker Erlan Jones and defensive lineman Nick Arnold.
