I keep hearing more and more these days about athletes who are ”at the top of their form.” With the Olympics coming soon, and the All Star break upon us in Major League Baseball, it’s easy to see how the sports world might be talking about those folks who are in top form.And, with election season just around the corner, it is very important for us to pay close attention in an effort to determine just who might be in the best position to lead our country forward.More importantly, I believe, is for each of us to take stock of our lives and see what form we are in concerning our spiritual lives.I believe that for any of us to be spiritually at the top of our form, we must consume God’s word and let it take hold of who we are.2 Peter 1:3-4 says: “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Highway 291 in Independence reopens

A portion of state Highway 291 in Independence that was closed June 27 has been reopened.The abrupt closure came after a crack developed underneath the roadway, and was put in place as a precaution while crews evaluated the situation.According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the roadway was closed from Truman Road to U.S.

Department of Natural Resources awards $37,500 grant to Slater

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 1, 2024 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $37,500 Drinking Water Engineering Report Grant to the city of Slater to evaluate its drinking water system.Through its Drinking Water Engineering Report Grant program, the department offers funding to qualified communities to help cover costs of evaluating public drinking water system improvements.

Informational video updates for state parks and historic sites will be posted online in July

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 2, 2024 – Team members from Missouri State Parks invite the public to visit mostateparks.com and view informational videos for Annie and Abel Van Meter and Weston Bend state parks, and Battle of Carthage, Clark’s Hill/Norton and Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead state historic sites.After watching the videos, the public is encouraged to provide input and comments, as well as submit questions about the parks or historic sites and their operations.
