I might not see your face,Yet we know you’re from a different race. The mask does not hide,The hatred you feel inside. How can you despise,Someone you’ve not sat beside? You’ve haven’t gathered close enough, have you looked deeply into my eyes?Have you realized, the many, dreaded tears I’ve cried?Do you see my capacity to loveAND forgive?Do you realize, there’s a better way to live?YES, it’s time to make that change.Let us all put down the rage; The anger we feel inside,And instead, pick up the pride;Knowing there can be a brighter day,A better, loving way.Let’s change the way we see each other,Realizing you’re my sister and my brother. We ALL have the same blood inside,Blue within, Red outside.Let us dare to change our hearts, our minds, our Spirit.Knowing full well,It wasn’t we, ourselves, who did it!It’s later than we think,It’s time to rise, not sink.Even though we would like things to be different, better, We realize that requires CHANGE!
