Sweet Springs BOE approves staff salary increase, calendar option C

During a Sweet Springs Board of Education meeting held Thursday, March 14, the board approved a two-percent increase to the base and the appropriate step movement to the 2024-2025 certified staff salaries, with a 7-0 vote.According to meeting minutes, the board also approved Calendar Option C, with the recommended changes presented, as the 2024-2025 academic calendar, with the first day of school being August 19 and the last day of school being May 16.During closed session the board approved the addition of Robin Hunter to the 2023-2024 substitute list, as well as the resignations of the following individuals from the following positions: Ashley Brandt from Basketball Cheer Coach extra duty to be effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year, Trevor Parker, Junior High Boys Basketball Coach extra duty to be effective at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year, pending a replacement can be found to fill the vacancy for the 2024-2025 school year, and Heather Englebrecht, elementary teacher, at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year.

MDC and MPFC ask those doing prescribed burns to ‘Log Your Burn’

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Missouri Prescribed Fire Council (MPFC) encourage landowners, land managers, and others who conduct prescribed burns on private land to “Log Your Burn” through the MPFC website at moprescribedfire.org.Prescribed fire, or controlled burning, is an affordable and effective management tool to accomplish land management goals including: reducing fuel loads to reduce the chance and intensity of wildfire; restoring native plant communities; enhancing wildlife habitat for wild turkeys, deer, and other game species; improving livestock forage production; regenerating trees; and controlling invasive species such as bush honeysuckle.
