Our spiritual lives, living our daily religious walk, should be intimately tied to Israel because Israel belongs to the one true God. Our journeys of faith may be like Jacob’s ladder, sometimes up and sometimes down, but the constant goal is to love the Lord and to obtain eternal life. Like Jacob’s ladder, our spiritual lives are to be set up on the earth. Mutzav is the Hebrew word for set up and derives from the root, to be firm, unwavering. Our spirituality should be rooted in being firmly placed on the ground to be able to climb. It is that foundation that we are enabled to ascend as part of our spiritual journey. Our spiritual life may follow a pattern, but our commitment to Israel and the Jews should be as constant as our faith in Jesus/Yeshua.
