Marshall Branch, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints This Thanksgiving, there is an extra dose of gratitude for local members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. About 50 years ago, The Church established a small congregation (called a Branch) in Saline County.
Special to The Marshall Democrat-News All around the nation, the red kettles have been brought out for the month of December. The Christmas season represents a time of compassion and generosity. These kettles are put in strategic places in almost every community through the sponsorship of the Salvation Army. But they represent all of us: we, the good people who volunteer to ring the bells, who donate to the kettles, who believe in the cause of caring for the poor and for those who are in need. It is a cooperative effort of our churches and our families.
