The Marshall Community Chorus, directed by Ron Sayer, presents its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 17, at First Christian Church. The 40-voice choir held two concerts over the weekend, the first took place Saturday evening. They featured both traditional and contemporary pieces.
Marshall Boy Scout Troop 42 recently celebrated a milestone with a memorial tree through the Marshall Parks and Recreation Memorial Tree program. The troop was established in 1937 and is over 85 years old. The native Fall Fiesta Maple tree is a wonderful addition to the park and can be seen near the Seminole Shelter area.
This year, once again, we are looking toward a new year with high expectations and much caution. After all, there are still wars and rumors of wars and inflation and the certainty of a hard fought (read “nasty”) presidential campaign on tap for the coming year. But even with all of the things we have to worry about, or to be cautious about, or to prepare for, I have to hold tight to my faith and the knowledge that - as they say - I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow. When I hear folks talk about how truly rough things might get for all of us during the next few years, I think about one of my favorite scriptures.
