Club President Matt Pennock called the meeting of the Optimist Club of Marshall to order on Saturday, Oct. 28. Wayne McReynolds led in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, and Gary Pennock gave the invocation. Phyllis Rector, the club’s zone lieutenant governor, was introduced as a guest. The annual club installation and awards banquet was recently held, and Robyn Leimkuehler received the president’s citation for all the extra work she did over the last year, and Megan Leimkuehler was named Educator of the Year.

Fitzgibbon Hospital food drive celebrates Rural Health Day

The staff at Fitzgibbon Hospital and The Living Center are conducting an annual food drive during the holiday season as a way of giving back to the community. The food drive is being conducted in conjunction with the annual observance of National Rural Health Day, which is Thursday, Nov. 16. All food collected this year will be donated to the Saline County Holiday Project, which will have its distribution at the Martin Community Center on Dec. 14.

New Chamber director hosts meet-and-greet

Tuesday, Oct. 24. This time allowed the new Chamber personnel to meet with the public and businesses. The Chamber of Commerce board of directors recently hired Executive Director Amanda Linneman and Office Assistant Shannon Gross. Pictured Tuesday were Linneman (center), Chamber board president Felicia Hayes (right), and Sedalia Chamber of Commerce President Katie Shannon (left). The Marshall Chamber of Commerce is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located inside the Marshall City Office Building.
