Lady Owls fall to S-C
SPORTS EDITOR On Sept. 7, the Marshall Lady Owls’ softball team won its first game of the season — 9-5 over Smith-Cotton at home. But the Lady Tigers avenged that loss with a 6-3 victory at home Thursday.

Lady ‘Cats hammer T-A
Slater’s offense pounded out 14 hits and scored in four of the five innings, and junior Hailey Harry tossed a two-hitter in the Lady Wildcats’ 15-0 softball win at Tina-Avalon last week. The Lady ‘Cats broke up a scoreless tie with four tallies in the second inning.
Owls’ soccer team suffers tough losses
After dropping a 3-0 North Central Missouri Conference decision to Hannibal in a match that was split up over two days due to bad weather, Justin Van Winkle’s Marshall Owl soccer team was looking to get back on the winning side of the ledger with two more matches last week.
Six MHS runners medal, two in Top 5 at Oak Grove Invitational
Two Marshall cross country runners finished in the top five of the races at the Oak Grove Invitational last week. In the girls’ race, the Lady Owls were second as a team and claimed one of the two team plaques.
Two Owl athletes medal at Eubank Invite swim meet
SPORTS EDITOR In two days, the Marshall Owls competed in two swim meets last week. At the Blue Springs South Duals, the Owls won one and lost three.

Ethol Evaline Dysart, 98, of Marshall, MO, formerly of Waverly and Higginsville, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Waverly Cemetery.
