A leap of faith

Not long ago a friend told me that as he was preparing to ride a zip line for the first time in his life from the highest point of a mountain side in Southern Missouri. Fear welled up inside him. Seconds before he took his leap of faith and jumped from the platform, thoughts of everything that could go wrong filled his mind. But with all the courage that he could muster (with a few reasons for turning back), he released. Dropping from the platform and heading through the forest, he whizzed through the green trees, wind flowing through his hair and his worries slowly fading as he allowed gravity to carry him. He said he then saw the platform become clearer, and with a gentle stop, he knew he’d arrived safely.

The Marshall Police Department responded to the following calls from Aug. 6-8, 2023: -Warrant Arrest – A computer inquiry of Mr. Patric Hayes revealed he was a fugitive from justice from Saline County, Mo., for probation violation on the original charge of assault with a $10,000.00 cash-only bond, with a full US extradition, confirmed by Dispatcher Robbins of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, warrant #23SAPBR78.

Getting ready … Even now

I cleaned the glass door on the wood stove today, and made sure the fire box was ash free, for now. Laura brought in some smaller pieces of wood we had already prepared for kindling and stacked them in the wood bin near the stove. And, as we drove out of the property on a trip to town, we pointed out trees that should be felled and processed for fire wood as soon as the leaves start falling and the temperatures cool a bit.
