SPORTS EDITOR Four nights after suffering a gut-wrenching 2-1 loss to Hannibal that cost the Marshall Lady Owls’ soccer team a shot at the North Central Missouri Conference title, the Lady Owls overcame missing some key cogs and shut out Fulton 4-0 on the road Tuesday. The win solidified the Lady Owls in second place in the league with an 8-2 mark and improved them to 16-4 overall.
After dropping two straight games, including a heart-breaker to I-70 Conference rival Concordia, Andrew Smith’s Santa Fe Chiefs closed out the regular season on a winning note, downing the visiting Saint Paul Saints 6-3 in Waverly Tuesday.
SPORTS EDITOR The dual portion of the boys’ tennis season came to an end for the Marshall Owls as they lost their Class 1, District 13 semifinal at Warrensburg. The top-seeded Tigers won the dual 5-0 and led two of the other four matches that were still being played.

SPORTS EDITOR Sophomore Sarah Mitchell drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk to lift the third-seeded Sweet Springs Lady Greyhounds to a 13-12 come-from-behind win over Green Ridge in the Class 1, District 7 championship softball game on the Lady Tigers’ home field Wednesday.
SPORTS EDITOR Slater golfers competed at the Class 1, District 2 golf tournament at Heritage Hills in Moberly Thursday. Salisbury won the team title with a 326, and Marceline was second with a 353.

The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting on Monday, May 8, and heard from Phil Clevenger, with the Sweet Springs Restoration Foundation. Clevenger discussed the ditch behind the Miller Street buildings and stated that the gas lines would not be put in the ditch.
