Approximately 35 households have contributed to a garage sale which will be held at Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 1000 S. Miami Ave., on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6. All the proceeds from the sale will go to a fund set up to replace the asphalt parking lot — which is in need of repair — with concrete. “Our Session decided last year that although concrete is more expensive, in the long run it was better stewardship of our resources,” says Pastor Randy Shannon. “It will require less to maintain it and keep it up,” he says.
Two Slater drivers were injured when their vehicles collided on Route O Tuesday morning, April 25. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a Nissan Sentra — driven by Melissa Jennings, 34, of Slater — was heading south when it traveled into the path of a flatbed truck while attempting to negotiate a curve, resulting in a head-on collision.
The Marshall Kiwanis Club held its regular meeting Tuesday, April 25, at Montague’s. Club President Chad Unterreiner offered the invocation, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and called the meeting to order with 21 members and two guests in attendance.

Friends of Pennytown will be attending a Marshall Rotary Club meeting on Thursday, May 4. The meeting will be at 2 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall. The address is 710 E. Yerby St. in Marshall. Clarence Lawrence, chairman of Friends of Pennytown, will be speaking and bringing artifacts. The event is free to the public.
