Lady Owls shut out Odessa for 12th win

SPORTS EDITOR Despite not connecting on a penalty kick in the second half, Marshall junior soccer phenom Kiki Simic accounted for three of her team’s goals in a 4-0 nonconference victory over Odessa at the MHS Sports Complex Tuesday. “After that loss to Camdenton, the ladies said they didn’t want to lose any more this season,” MHS first-year head coach Duglas Lopez said.

Bargfrede places fourth in state FFA Division II prepared public speaking competition

COLUMBIA — Alyssa Bargfrede of the Sweet prings FFA Chapter placed fourth in the Division II prepared public speaking leadership development event at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention. Sixteen students from six districts were selected to compete at the state level. The Sweet Springs FFA advisors are Kristen Fenner, and Brent Niemeyer.
