Saline County Early Days (1820-1900)

Jordan Creek, a branch of Salt Pond, meandered through the west‐ern part of Elmwood Township. It was along the creek that the first settlements in the township were made by Robert and John S. Owens of Tennessee and Thomas Hunter and the Francisco families of Ken‐tucky. Then came the Triggs and Jones families. Some of the other families were the Brights, Mont‐gomery families, the Hays family, Asa Pennington and Joshua Steppes. They were mostly from Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee and a few were from Ireland.

Regarding strength, the most important as‐pect is postural strength, the ability to keep your skeleton bal‐anced and capable of carrying your daily load for a lifetime. If the bones are out of align‐ment and too weak to resist daily stress then it is akin to driving your car with the wheels out of alignment. You can still drive the car but it pulls and you have to over‐steer to go keep going straight. You get used to driving like this until one day you look at your tire treads and see them worn down to the steel belt. A lot like someone who has worn their knees down to “bone on bone” or in other words needing a knee replacement.

SFCC Booster Club seeks new members and board directors

SEDALIA (March 28, 2023) — The State Fair Community College Roadrunner Booster Club is seeking ener‐getic, college sports en‐thusiasts to serve on its Board of Directors. SFCC’s athletic pro‐grams have grown to 16 sports teams in re‐cent years, and the club wants to add new members and directors with fresh ideas and ac‐tivities that will help grow support for its student‐athletes. Excel‐lent college sports pro‐grams depend on strong and active booster clubs.
