Saline County Early Days (1882- 1900)

What was once a rural area, Cretcher, a small village, in now extinct except for the remains of a very few buildings. The area is still a rural area, but Cretcher is no longer. This extinct village was located about nine miles northeast of Sweet Springs, in section 15, township 49, range 22. Living persons of this com‐munity are all gone. Some living persons have heard of the exis‐tence of Cretcher.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes ships $1 million of sports equipment to Ukrainian coaches and athletes

KANSAS CITY — The world watched on with horror in February of 2022 when Russia in‐vaded Ukraine, displac‐ing millions of Ukrainians from their homes. As the war in Ukraine continues, hun‐dreds of coaches and ath‐letes are left without the proper resources to stay engaged in their sport, job and ministry. As the coaches and athletes con‐tinue to face challenges and shortages, Fellow‐ship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) is partnering with Convoy of Hope to send a full shipping container (40 pallets) of sports equip‐ment and supplies to Ukraine. The total value of the materials is over $1 million.

MO lawmakers back ban on Chinese ownership of land

(AP) - The Missouri House voted Thursday to ban entities from China and four other perceived adversarial countries from purchasing land in the state, citing a need to protect farms from the possibility of falling under hostile control. The Missouri legislation, which now heads to the Senate, is one of several similar bills moving through state capitols this year amid international tensions that were peaked by the trek of a 'The balloon was just over this Capitol' in February, Missouri House Speaker Dean Plocher said Thursday. 'We have to protect Missouri sovereignty, and we have to protect Missouri farmers, and I think we need to protect our food supply. ' In addition to targeting foreign property ownership in the U.S., many states and the federal government recently have banned the popular social media app TikTok from government devices amid fears that its Chinese-owned parent company could provide data about users to the Chinese government.
