Animal shelter staff remind public they can help with certain vet costs as shelters nationwide are at capacity

“The old adage of a no-kill shelter is being quashed,” Danita Phillips, with the Marshall Animal Shelter, said as the echo of approximately 20 dogs barking reverberated from the kennel area. “There’s many shelters that are having to euthanize puppies, because nobody is adopting. Nobody is fostering.”

Annual Fitzgibbon Hospital Health Fair Scheduled for Friday, April 28

While most of us are awaiting the official “end” to the pandemic as the Department of Health and Human Services is planning for the federally‐declared Public Health Emergency for COVID‐19 to expire on May 11, the negative effects on the health of our community re‐main. We know that the pandemic caused many people to “hunker down,” stay home and delay rou‐tine preventative health care. The result is that individuals are iden‐tifying health conditions in a more advanced state.
