June 29, 1963 — March 8, 2023 James “Jim” F. Chitwood Jr., 59, of Carrollton, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, of liver failure, at University Hospital in Columbia. Born June 29, 1963, in Marshall, Jim was the son of the late James Freddie Chitwood Sr. and Hazel Marie (Pummill) Chitwood. Jim was a 1981 graduate of Sweet Springs High School and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Carrollton.
August 20, 1926 — March 16, 2023 Evelyn Louise Conrad Bailey, 96, of Pompano Beach, Fla., peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Trust-Bridge Hospice, in Pompano Beach, Fla. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
October 26, 1939 — March 20, 2023 Roy Francis Kirby, 83, of Mount Leonard, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at home while surrounded by his loving wife and family. Roy was born on October 26, 1939, to George Richard Kirby and Ellen Alma (Fleener) Kirby in Windsor, Missouri.
DEMOCRAT-NEWS This year, the Marshall Owls Robotics and Engineering team – also known as Team MORE – has taken on a new coach; and Andy Davis, industrial arts teacher at MHS, has taken on a new leadership role. The position was one that came with the teaching job, giving Davis a new part to fill beyond his original plan to teach industrial arts.
The Saline County Career Center Educa‐tors Rising chapter participated in the State Educators Ris‐ing competition and conference on Wednesday, March 15. Seven members competed and will move on to the Na‐tional Conference and Competition in Or‐lando, Fla., which will be held from June 29 to July 2.
