MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE (Jan. 26, 2023) — Missouri Valley College President Ph.D. Bonnie Humphrey has announced Ph.D. Joe Alsobrook as vice president for Strategic Initiatives and Online Operations.
For the upcoming election in April, five candidates interested in being on the Marshall Public Schools Board of Education submitted their names for candidacy. There are a total of three seats, each for a three-year term. The following candidates will be on the ballot: 1. Amy Green, new candidate 2. Andrew Linsenbardt, new candidate 3. Carter Fawkes, new candidate 4. Jack Lenz, rerun candidate 5. Matt Smith, rerun candidate Prior to the election, there will be a “Meet the Candidates” event on Thursday, March 30. It will be held in the Bueker Middle School auditorium at 6 p.m.
During a regular Marshall City Council meeting on Tuesday night, Jan. 17, Marshall Parks Director Chad Unterreiner inquired about the marijuana sales tax.

For the first time in nearly seventeen years, America has awarded the highest civilian honor that the nation can bestow upon the country’s astronauts – the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. Missouri astronaut Bob Behnken and fellow astronaut Doug Hurley have been given the medals for their bravery.
Missouri has nearly 13,400 children in foster care – making the state’s foster care rate one of the highest in the country. Only about 5,000 foster homes currently exist to care for these kids, sometimes leading to the separation of siblings.
Battling stiff competition, two Marshall Lady Owl grapplers finished in the top three of their respective weight classes at the Highway 13 Throwdown at Higginsville Friday. The best day was turned in by sophomore Ayla Castaneda, who wound up second in the 140-pound weight class.
