Journey Through Bethlehem returns after 2-year hiatus
After a two-year pandemic- inspired hiatus, Journey Through Bethlehem will return to the New Life Center at First United Methodist Church in Marshall from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. The event, which had expanded to a two-night event after its debut in 2016, will return to a one-night only offering. Journey offers area residents the opportunity to imagine what it was like to visit the little town of Bethlehem on a normal night that turned out to be anything but ordinary — the night of Jesus’ birth. Guests can visit with characters from the town, such as the rabbi, a carpenter, a potter, and the inn-keeper. They will also get the chance to see how the typical poor family would live as they visit a home in the village. Foods typical of the period may also be sampled on your way through the village to discover Mary and Jospeh and the newborn baby. You can conclude your visit with an opportunity to visit the stable of animals, including a camel named Bella.
