Marshall Lady Owls’ sophomore Avery Evans and junior Holly Huston dropped both of their doubles matches played at the Class 1 State Tennis Tournament at Cooper Sports Complex in Springfield Friday. Evans and Huston, who entered the 16-team event with a 5-2 record on the season, fell to Notre Dame de Sion junior Lauren Murphy and sophomore Elizabeth Vance 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 8-10 (tie-breaker).
Chalk up two more wins for the unbeaten and No. 1ranked Marshall Owls’ boys soccer team.

Sports-Springfield Ozarks radio legend, Art Hains, will be moved to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals in Lincoln, Nebraska Thursday (Oct. 13).
At one point, the Slater Wildcats led visiting Wellington 20-14 when senior Jayce Case scored his second rushing touchdown of the game in the third quarter. But the Tigers rallied and scored the final 27 points in a 41-20 victory at Slater Friday.
The Santa Fe Chiefs dropped their fourth game in a row but not without a fight versus Braymer/Breckenridge. The Chiefs rallied from a 22-8 deficit at the end of the first quarter to lead 3422 at halftime.
Jeff Holtzman’s Sweet Springs Greyhounds’ football team lost four fumbles, which No. 2-ranked Archie turned into points.
