Hannibal is a top-10 ranked team in Class 4, and the Pirates proved why in a 59-14 North Central Missouri Conference win over the Marshall Owls on Cecil Naylor Field Friday. It was the 17th straight win for the Pirates in the series.
Marshall sophomore Matthew Pomerenke ran his best race of the season, turing in a personal-best time of 19 minutes, 54.10 seconds to finish 21st in the varsity boys 5,000meter final at the North Central Missouri Conference meet at Marshall High School Saturday.
An already small squad in numbers was even smaller Saturday, as the Marshall Owls’ boys swimmers competed at the Tiger Invitational in Sedalia Saturday. The Owls were missing three swimmers due to band day and the conference cross country meet.
