Ian Verts’ Marshall Owls’ football team played nearly a perfect first half in their last outing. But the Kirksville Tigers started making plays in the latter half of the second quarter, continued making them in the third quarter and pulled away to record a 41-17 North Central Missouri Conference win on Cecil Naylor Field.

Despite grinding out first down after first down and chewing up the entire first quarter and scoring a touchdown early in the second quarter on the game’s first possession, the Slater Wildcats couldn’t maintain their dominance of the line of scrimmage and eventually lost to visiting state-ranked Cole Camp 42-14 last Friday.
