Lady Owls’ spikers try to rebound from down year

The Marshall Lady Owls’ volleyball team had a tough 2021 season, finishing 3-26 overall and winless in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC). But there are some talented players returning for second-year head coach Stephanie Heinzler. Gone from last year’s squad are Damaris Cantor, Izabella Brandt and Cynthia Martinez due to graduation. Also not returning are Ella Verts, Linzi Boedeker and Hailie Barber. Verts and Boedeker were middle hitters and Barber an outside hitter.

Annual golf tournament hailed as tremendous success for mental health service support

The 31st annual Pete H. Rea Memorial Golf Tournament was held Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, raising more than $15,000 in what has become one of the most-anticipated golf events in west-central Missouri. Fifty-two teams took to the course in the two-flight tournament, which is named after the late, longtime Fitzgibbon Hospital board member and president Pete H. Rea.

Buying a miracle
