1 injured when car travels off road, into creek

A Sweet Springs woman was injured when the vehicle she was driving crashed in Pettis County Monday, Aug. 29. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred when a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Virginia Ulverg, 64, of Sweet Springs, was heading north on Buncomb Road. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, struck a culvert and became airborne. According to the report, the vehicle then struck a ditch and landed in a creek. Ulverg was transported to a hospital via ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries. The crash took place at 5:14 p.m. north of Route OO.

Arrow Rock State Historic Site continues First Saturday presentations

This Saturday morning, Sept. 3, the Arrow Rock State Historic Site Visitor Center will be hosting another First Saturday presentation. The topic will be “Sincerely Yours, Laura Ingalls Wilder.” Kathleen Boswell will be exploring why Wilder wrote her famous “Little House” series and her life after the last volume.
