MR340 paddlers take break at Miami river access point

The MR340 river race kicked off Tuesday, July 12. At approximately 6:15 p.m., the front-runner, Dustin LeCave of St. Louis, arrived at Miami Landing (top left).The large mass of kayakers wasn’t expected to arrive until 9 to 10 p.m. MR340 members assist LeCave by clearing water out of his kayak (top right), while he takes a short break to cool off in the water.The second participant to check in, Tom Farar, stopped in the water at Miami Landing (left), and then headed back out. A small part of the spectators, MR340 personnel, and a camera crew from KMBC Channel 9 News awaited the next participants to arrive (bottom).
