Heat stroke

Dear Coach It's Summer time and between the cost of electric energy and the possibility that there may be brownouts from lack of supply I’m getting worried about the hot weather to come. In a worse case situation, how do I prevent heat stroke and I also worry because I have neighbors who don't have air conditioning.

Gathering together

A couple of years ago just before the Covid hit churches were experiencing a slow decline of memberships in their gathering on Sunday mornings. Now that the virus has pretty much weaken and things have been slowly getting back to normal the churches still see their membership numbers dropping. Why? Because a lot of churches have set themselves up to telecast their services on the internet for people that have been staying home and now have gotten use to staying home on Sunday mornings. Is this a good thing? Not really because you miss so much by staying home and not being a part of God’s plan for us to come together in fellowship and drawing spiritual strength from each other. Verbal barriers are no match for Kenny’s work ethic

Meet Kenny Dole who has received Employment Services through Center for Human Services (CHS) since 1987. Kenny overcomes various verbal barriers, associated with electrolarynx, which affects his ability to communicate with others. Kenny utilizes physical gestures such as clapping, stomping, waving to maintain communication with others, since he wants to be social with everyone around him. This doesn’t stop Kenny from showing his work ethic, as a matter of fact, he maintains two jobs in the Marshall area, with support from his CHS Job Coach.

Candidates of contested local races give statements

Six candidates are vying for county positions in next Tuesday’s election: Recorder of Deeds, Presiding Commissioner and County Clerk. They were each asked to provide brief biographies, why they are the best candidate for the position, and to explain something they would like to see happen within their position or for the county. Recorder of Deeds candidates are Jessica Baker and Amie Ragan-Brown. Presiding Commissioner candidates are Kile Guthrey Jr. and Becky Plattner. County Clerk candidates are Carrie Jarvis and Brittni Burton. Jarvis was not able to provide a statement by the time of publication Wednesday.
