KANSAS CITY (AP) — A shooting at a Kansas City bar where off-duty police officers were working security has left one person dead and five others wounded, authorities said. It happened around 11 p.m.

The 101st season of the Marshall Municipal Band continues this Thursday evening with another weekly concert on the east lawn of the Saline County Courthouse. The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chair and enjoy the sounds of the band.
During a Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works meeting held Thursday, June 30, MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom presented a memo establishing an Economic Development Fund within MMU to support the growth of the city of Marshall.
The Marshall City Council met in regular session at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5.
The Buckner Foundation issued another round of grants for its fiscal year, which ended June 30. Eighteen total organizations were granted funds that quarter, which totaled $396,318.
The Marshall Board of Public Works held a regular meeting Thursday, June 30. According to unofficial meeting minutes, Wastewater Treatment Plant Lab Technician Eric Perkins presented a bid received to remodel the plant’s breakroom and bathroom. This is part of the FEMA project and will be reimbursed at 90 percent. According to the minutes, bids were sent out to 29 area vendors, with only one responding, which was Septagon Construction, of Sedalia, in the amount of $42,025. The board approved the bid.
