SFCC announces academic honors

SEDALIA (June 3, 2022) — State Fair Community College has named the following students to the President’s, Dean’s and Trustees’ lists for the Spring 2022 semester. To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a semester grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 in 12 or more SFCC GPA credit hours.

Chosen: God’s own possession

In 1 Peter 2:9, the apostle Peter describes believers in Jesus Christ with these remarkable words: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (NKJV). We’ve already discussed being a holy nation and a royal priesthood. Today I want to combine what it means to be chosen by God as his own special people.

Barbara Longfellow Thompson

Barbara Longfellow Thompson, 88, of Marshall, beloved wife of Major James L. Thompson and mother of three sons, died peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Columbia with her family at her side. Barbara was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Topsham, Maine, the daughter of the late L. Frederick Longfellow, Emily Fox (Longfellow) Greig, and her stepfather, William E. Greig.
