Rick Darling, a long-time member of Malta Bend Memorial Post 558, was awarded a Quilt of Valor® at Monday night’s meeting for his military service. Donna Rothermich, a member of Quilts of Valor® Foundation, made the quilt for the presentation.
The Marshall Municipal Services Street Department worked to repair cuts that had been made on Morrow Street, near Odell Avenue, early Thursday morning, June 23. The holes had been made initially to disconnect the sewer and gas lines from the old IGA building prior to it being demolished. The road reopened by mid-afternoon.
The driver of a semi-truck that hit a cow on Highway 65 in Marshall Wednesday morning, June 22, did not sustain any serious injuries. It was reported to The Marshall Democrat-News that there were four cows in the roadway and the driver attempted to swerve to avoid hitting them, however two were hit in the process.

Charles C. “Cliff” Lear, 95, of Sedalia, passed away June 23, 2022, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, Mo. He was born on June 27, 1926, in Pattonsburg, Mo., the son of Charles B. Lear and Agnus Ruth Savage.
