Three Saline Area high schools qualified studentathletes for the sectional meets after their performances at the district level Saturday. Class 1, District 3 GLASGOW — Slater had eight entries advance to the Section 2 meet Saturday at Monroe City, which former Marshall boys’ basketball coach Cody Leonard is managing.
Three members of the Marshall boys’ golf team punched their tickets to the MSHSAA Class 4 Championships on Monday during the District 4 Tournament at Independence. Sophomore Aiden Coffman shot an 87 on the par-72 Drumm Farms course to tie for 12th place in the 66-entry field Junior Logan Alspach and sophomore Garrett Boedeker shared 16th place with 90s to earn their berths at state.
COLUMBIA, Missouri — Columbia College recently announced its Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 Semester (January-April, 2022). To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have completed 12 semester hours in a 16-week period and achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0-point scale.
We were in Springfield, Missouri Sunday for a meet-up with some of the kids and grandkids for Mother’s Day. After lunch, we drove to a nearby park so the young ones could play a while before getting into the car and taking the three hour trip back north to their home.

Staci Olvera Schorgl died May 4, 2022, at Centerpoint Hospital. Staci was born April 21, 1974. She graduated from Lexington High School (1992), UCM in Warrensburg, Missouri (1996) and UMKC School of Law (1999). Staci spent the majority of her legal career as a partner with Bryan Cave Law Firm in Kansas City, Missouri.

David Harmon Raines, 79, of Marshall, Mo., died Saturday, May 7, 2022, at The Living Center in Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Marshall Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson reported on Friday, May 6, that the mill and overlay pro gram would begin on Monday, May 9. “The schedule is to start milling on Slater Street Monday morning immediately after school is in session as to not interfere with the already hectic traffic,” he said.
