11 area students earn DESE recognized Career & Technical Education Certificate

The Saline County Career Center recognized 11 students recently by awarding them the Career and Technical Education certificate. In 2016, the Missouri General Assembly passed legislation requiring the State Board of Education and the CTE Advisory Council to establish the requirements for the CTE certificate. The certificate is earned in addition to the student’s graduating high school diploma. This is the second year graduating students were eligible to earn the CTE certificate.

MPS selects incoming assistant superintendent

David Reinke has been chosen to continue his career in the Marshall School District as the assistant superintendent. He is a distinguished educator with over 20 years of experience in education. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas-Monticello. Reinke also earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Educational Specialist degrees from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.

Commissioners give ARPA update, emergency management director mentions training exercise

Emergency Management Director Tony Day shared with the Saline County Commission on Thursday morning, May 12, the department is working on communication issues. “Communication is all important in any incident or catastrophe, and it’s always an issue on every exercise … so we’ve been working on it,” he said.
