Marshall Public Schools shares statement Sunday

In lieu of recent events, Marshall School District Superintendent Carol Maher shared the following statement on Sunday evening, May 15: Because a multitude of information and misinformation is being spread throughout the community about recent events involving members of the Marshall High School family, this statement is made to ensure Marshall Public Schools communicates using appropriate and accurate information based on facts, not hearsay. The Board of Education and MPS Administration strongly encourage all Marshall residents to allow the proper procedures to take place so all involved may be represented fairly.

Michael S. Williams

Michael S. Williams, 49, of Lawrence, Kan., formerly of Marshall, died Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kan. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Slater, with the Rev. Wellington J. Gorham Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Madelyn June Cox, 92, of Marshall, Mo., died Monday, May 16, 2022, at Golden Oaks Assisted Living in Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
