Club News: Optimist Club holds November meeting
The regular meeting of the Optimist Club of Marshall was held on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant. President Robyn Leimkuehler called the meeting to order, Kenneth Ray Clause gave the invocation, and Annie Collier led in the pledge of Allegiance.
Leimkuehler noted that several members would be delivering Home Delivered Meals for Marshall Senior Center on Nov. 16. She also reported that the club delivered shoes to the high school for the Shoes That Fit project. A report was given on the recent West Missouri Optimist District conference held in St. Joseph. Eighty members representing 23 clubs were registered. The keynote speaker, via Zoom, was Optimist International President-elect Patsy Garner of Texas. The club was presented with a certificate for participating in the Achievements and Awards program. Dale Zank received a pin for donating to the dime-a day program.
The annual gourmet popcorn sales have been going well, and a sign-up sheet was distributed for workers for the upcoming week, and for sales at Walmart. The morning drawing was awarded to Clause, but he did not win the jackpot. The meeting closed with the recitation of the Optimist Creed, led by John Bargfrede.
The next meeting will be Nov. 28 at Bloomfield’s at 7:30 a.m.
