For the third year in a row, the players who comprise the LaCoMo East Senior Little League All-Star team made it to the regional tournament, falling in the semifinal round to tie for third place.

Winning championships of the District 1 Tournament July 7 at Concordia and Missouri State Tournament July 15 at DeSoto sent LaCoMo East to the Central Regional at Peru and Oglesby, Ill. That followed regional appearances for the group in the Major (12-and-under) and Intermediate (13) Leagues the past two years.

The 15-and-under squad consisted of manager Justin Tichenor, coaches Galen Kueck and Matt Smith, Caden Lovell, Coltyn Wise, Lain Tichenor, Gage Sullivan, Seth Hoffman, Andrew Kueck, Pierson Tichenor, Logan Deal, Coy Smith, Georgie Ortzian, Philip McCaslin and Aden Jones.

Hoffman, Deal and Coy Smith were freshmen with the Marshall Owls varsity club in the spring, while Ortzian was a sophomore starter for Sweet Springs. All four were members of the Marshall Mudhounds 16-and-under summer team.

East opened the regional July 20 with a 7-6 decision over West Madison, Wis., to start the day and an 8-4 victory over Wabash, Ind., in the nightcap. They beat host Peru, Ill., 13-8, the next day before suffering their first loss in the double-elimination tournament July 22 to Hanover Park, Ill., 8-7.

LaCoMo stayed alive July 23 with a 13-1 loser's bracket win over Wabash before meeting Maumee, Ohio, the next day, which advanced to the finals with a 5-1 win. Maumee fell to West Madison, which climbed up the back side of the bracket after its first-round loss to East, in an 8-3 championship contest.
