Young performers hone skills at summer arts camp
Youths of all ages honed their performance skills at the Summer Fine Arts and Performing Arts Camp offered by the Missouri Valley College Division of Fine Arts in June.
Participants registered for either the full-day camp or half-day camp, depending on their ages. Third- through 12th-grade students took lessons in musical theater, acting, Shakespear, improv, vocal music and art. Kindergarten- through second-grade students had introductory classes in dance, art and music.
The summer camp has seen some expansion since it first began. Associate Professor of Theatre Harold Hynick said the addition of the half-day camp was a big success, and that participants would have a visual art experience, as well.
“We are excited to be growing once again by offering art classes this summer,” he stated in a release earlier this year.
The camp ran June 11-15 on the MVC campus. The full-day camp concluded with a performance showcase on June 15.
