'Cats have all-state selection in Zdybel

Slater sophomore Keegan Zdybel has earned selection to the Missouri Basketball Coaches' Association Class 1 all-state squad for his performance during the 2018-19 season. A 6-foot-2 forward, Zdybel averaged 13.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Wildcats, who won their second straight district championship en route to a 21-6 campaign which ended with a 60-58 sectional loss to Linn County. Although it no longer picks all-state teams, the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association has announced its all-Central District selections: Boys -- Class 4: G Jace Lance, Marshall, 6-1, Jr.; F Jaylen Varner, Marshall, 6-2, Sr. Class 1 (1st Team): G Chandler Zdybel, Slater, 5-11, Jr.; F Keegan Zdybel, Slater, 6-2, Soph. Girls -- Class 4:G Kassidy Heying, Marshall, 5-8, Sr.; F Skylar Walton, Marshall, 5-5, Soph. Class 2 (1st Team) G Michaela Malter, Sweet Springs, 5-9, Soph. (Chris Allen/Democrat-News)
